Monday Afternoon COACHING

Set pieces

Each of us had to come up with our own corner or free kick set piece to demonstrate and test on the rest of the class I did a fairly easy free kick technique but it worked extremely well. Although each person was videoed i haven't got the footage but it should be uploaded ASAP.

Futsal

Later in the afternoon we played some futsal in teams of 4 which across a big pitch gave us a great run out and allowed each player to see plenty of the ball.

Abercrombie Athletics COACHING

Today we visited a local primary school and took 30 kids aged 9 around an athletics circuit, The 30 children were split into groups of 5 or 6, Us college students were also split into groups of 5 each set of college students took a group of children and taught them an athletics event for example our event we was teaching was javelin so we had to teach the kids the technique of javelin and then let them have ago each group of students taught the children for 10 minutes and then the kids would swap around and you would have another set of 5 to teach.

Chesterfield College A vs Nottingham New College ANALYSIS

Time played - Last 10 Minutes
Position - CM
Final Score - 3 - 1

Although only making it on for the last 10 minutes I played reasonably well to say i played out of position I don't believe I gave the ball away once and created a goal scoring opportunity from a cross into the box. Can't really analyze  much else as I only played 10 minutes.

Chesterfield College B vs Derby College ANALYSIS

 21.10.12

Result - Derby College 4-0 Chesterfield College
Postion -ST
Time Played - 40 Minutes
Goals - 0

Team Performance

I don't believe the 4-0 loss really reflected well on the game, I believe we got off to a really slow start during the game all the way up until we conceded the first goal at around 30 minutes played, then i believe we woke up slightly performing a lot better attacking wise as the 3 strikers started to see more of the ball as the team got more composed. Half time score 1-0 to Derby College. Shortly after the break Chesterfield College conceded a second goal but also suffered a serious injury to there keeper resulting in an outfield player having to play in the net which was a big blow for us. The game was again pretty even for then next 10 minutes up until the 70th and then 75th when we conceded another 2 goals. But as strange as it sounds I believe we played better in the last 10 minutes at 4-0 down than the rest of the game and believe if we would have started like we played in the last 10 minutes the game would have been a lot more interesting and although losing 4-0 I believe the team performed very well defensively.

Personal Performance

Overall I thought my appearance was poor. Starting the game for the first 15 minute as a striker playing along side another 2 strikers I didn't really get involved in the game or see much of the ball but my ability to win headers from goal kicks was average. After getting taken off after the first 20 minutes I got back on for the last 10 in which i played a lot better as a central striker seeing more of the ball I believe my touch was on point and although only coming on for the last 10 I set up a clear goal scoring opportunity for us which are striker unluckily narrowly missed.

Child Discipline Methods RESEARCH

Controlling Methods For Kids

15.10.12
  •  Pressure - Don't put your pupil on the spot for example if you're demonstrating stretches to the class don't just randomly pick on someone for all you know they might not be at all confident and it my make them feel uncomfortable.
  •  Get to know your child - If working 1 on 1 with a child ask him questions to make him feel more comfortable for example "Do you play any sports" a lot of kids with mental health issues wouldn't speak first if not spoken too
  •  Logical Consequences - This technique is similar to natural consequences but involves describing to your child what the consequences will be for unacceptable behavior
  •  Rewarding good behavior - Acknowledging good behavior is the best way to encourage your child to continue it.
  •  Natural consequences -Your child does something wrong, you let the child experience the result of that behavior for example if you're explaining the rules of a game and they don't listen allow them to be confused when playing.
  • Respect and Communicate - Respect the child your teachings opinion ask him if he doesn't feel comfortable doing something and if not don't make him do it.

5 Minute Warm Up Session (COACHING)

During session
15.10.12

Session Information

  • Enough balls for 1 each.
  • 20+ Pupils
  • Full 7 A-Side pitch
  • Use of lines
  • 4 cones
  • No bibs

Brief

  • Set out 4 cones around 8 yards apart from each other to make a square shape.
  • Introduce myself
  • Explain the first game which was practicing spacial awareness and ball control. The game involved every student having a ball and moving in and out of each other within the square. The twist was we introduced traffic lights. When we shouted RED the players would walk between each other and within the square.  AMBER meaning everyone would jog in between each other and GREEN everyone would move as quickly as the could, all this within the square and without bumping into one another.
  • Make sure everyone understands ask about any questions.
  • Deliver the session
  • Group the students together and move on to the main game
  • Explain the main game, the game we chose to deliver was called king of the ring. The objective is within one half of the pitch each player again travels with a ball each at there feet at whatever pace they want. The difference is each player can get each other out by bending down and tapping one an others ball with there left hand or when the ball went out the area or touched the fence. As more people go out we made the game shorter so say when 10 pupils remained  we halved the one half we was using again and when 5 remained halved again and let them play until we had a winner.
  • Ask everyone if they understand.
  • Get on with the game.

Evaluation

Strengths

  • Use of traffic lights which can be used in many other game types.
  • Getting use to the ball by having a little pre warm up.
  • Everyone having a ball.
  • Everyone involved.
  • Made due without cones in the morning.
  • The game progressed and the pitch got smaller making it harder and harder.
  • Slight competition between the pupils making them work harder
  • Well positioned
Weaknesses

  • Could have been slightly more assertive
  • In the traffic lights game instead of shouting the colours out loud holding up bibs of that colour or cones so the players had to look up adding another skill.
  • Be slightly more motivational
  • Throw some stretches in for the people who went out in the main game so they're not just stood there doing nothing.

Playing Time And Evaluation 9.10.12 ANALYSIS

Chesterfield College vs Millhill School

Final score - 4-2.

Time played - 45 minutes.

Position played - Right Midfield.

Overall I believe I performed averagly during the half of the game I played. My first touch was a bit rusty and i wasn't as powerfull in the air as i thought I could of possibly been, Although scoring the opening goal I believe there was room for improvment.
